This medal is made of Brass and has a depiction of both Lenin and Stalin side by side. Around the outside of the medal are the Russian words for "To a Partisan of the Patriotic War". ONLY 71,000 WERE AWARDED, yet it is actually RARER THAN THE 1st CLASS MEDAL, as Stalin did not trust many of the 2nd Class Awardees, and had them executed and their medals confiscated!!! Awarded to servicemen, the personnel of state security agencies and ministries of the interior, and to citizens of the Warsaw Treaty member countries. Made of copper-nickel alloy and enamel.   7. MEDAL FOR DISTINCTION IN GUARDING THE STATE BORDER OF THE USSR - VARIATION 2. Instituted on July 13, 1950. Awarded to KGB Border Guard troops and KGB personnel for military accomplishments and special achievements displayed in guarding the state border of the USSR. Since this medal was awarded by the Chairman of the Committee of State Security of the USSR (KGB), it was awarded almost exclusively to KGB personnel. This medal is made of Silverplated SILVER ALLOY, and has a depiction of a KGB Border Guard holding a PPSH submachine gun. The reverse side has "CCCP" on it, indicating that it was Soviet Issue. Those medals without "CCCP" on them were issued after the demise of the Soviet Union, and are worth considerably less. ONLY 56,000 WERE AWARDED, and difficult to find. NEAR MINT CONDITION.   8. PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC ORDER MEDAL. Instituted on November 1, 1950. Awarded to rank and file members and authorities of the organs of Internal Affairs and servicemen in the the Internal Troops (MVD) for achievements in preserving the public order and in the struggle with crime. The obverse (front) of the medal has the words in Russian "For Distinguished Service in the Preservation of Public Order", while the reverse has the Seal of the Soviet Union. ONLY 47,000 ISSUED!!! This is a VERY RARE DUPLICATE MEDAL, that was reissued by the Soviet Government. This medal has the small Serial # of 1776074, as well as a small Cyrillic "D" stamped on the reverse. Paul McDaniel states "Duplicates are difficult to locate, and as such, have a rarity rating at least one step higher than those of an original piece". Made of SOLID SILVER.
